"I enjoyed the event because the children were happy and friendly. They worked well as a team and enjoyed it a lot. To improve the event we could do things like penalty shoot outs"
Sophie Y10
"I think that the football festival was very good because it meant that the children were doing exercise for 2 hours or so. It also meant that they had a chance to meet new people from other schools, even new people from different years in their own school."
Sophie Y10
"The family football festival went very well, the children enjoyed this event as it was one of the first times they had played competitive football. In between every match I swapped a player, I did this as I had 6 players in my squad and it was only fair on the children, they agreed with me and accepted it fine. The children in my team were very happy & excited, as they couldn't wait to play".
Stevan Y10
The children at the 5-a-side played very well, they listened to their managers and referees and had a lot of encouragement from parents and spectators. I think the event ran very well and everyone enjoyed themselves".

"The kids seemed to really enjoy it (cheerleading) they were smiling and shouting (cheering) and all of them joined in. I was nervous at first but afterwards I enjoyed it once I got involved with the kids. I hope to do another one because so many people, parents, teachers and kids turned up to support it".

"I think all the children enjoyed the event. At the end even shy children were joining in. they responded well and tried hard. They wanted to please you. They seemed excited and happy at being included and treated like us (they learnt our dance). Next time I would get the adults around the side involved in some way because they didn't join in"

Sportshall Athletics
10 Year 10's joined students from other partnership schools to be formally trained to act as leaders at the family Sportshall athletics festivals
Once trained, they then organise the family Sportshall Athletic event (other young leaders will also be involved), which take place after school on Tuesday 27th November. This involves up to 30 pupils from each of the primary schools participating in a variety of events.
The initial 10 will then have the opportunity to train to level 1 with the borough; they could then go on a young official's course, making them able to help at Rowley park. This will also count towards their 1st National qualification.
On Tuesday 27th November King Edward VI High School hosted a big family sportshall athletics event.
Up to 30 children from St Lawrence, Haughton St Giles, Church Eaton, Doxey, Castlechurch & The Grove participated in the activities in the Sportshall.
There were relay races, over hurdles and under tunnel races, obstacle races - all turning on reverser boards. The field events included Standing long, standing triple jump, chest push & vertical jump.
Without exception all of the children thoroughly enjoyed the activities -- this made approximately 150 Year 5 & Year 6 children all screaming in support of their team. It was extremely loud!!
None of the events could have taken place without the sports leaders from Y10 & Y12 officiating.
They did a brilliant job of organising, helping, timing, recording.
St Lawrence won the closely matched event. They went through to the partnership final on 12th December at Stafford Sports College against the winners from all the other family events.
