Stafford and Stone School Sport Celebration 2007
On Friday 29th June, 2007, the Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership held their first annual Celebration of Sport evening. The evening was attended by over 250 distinguished guests and was a huge success. Alison Nicholas MBE (Former US Open Golf Winner) handed out awards, pupils from various schools took part in displays of a high standard and Alison Oliver (Director of Sport - Youth Sport Trust) gave an inspirational speech on Leadership. Guests were also treated to a DVD of School Sport in Stafford.
The standard of nominations and winners was extremely high with a few of the examples below:
Secondary Male Sports Person of the Year - Steven Hill (Alleynes) - Great Britain Cyclist and in the GB Olympic Talent Squad.
Secondary Female Sports Person of the Year - Alice Lennox (Walton High) - Scottish International ranked 1st in UK Juniors for Pentathlon.
Primary Female Sports Person of the Year - Sarah Jane Watton (Flash Ley) - represented Great Britain at the World Championships for Karate.
