Georgia Stanway wows audience at National School Sport Conference

18th January 2012

Georgia performingLocal, Stafford Student Georgia Stanway recently received a standing ovation for her performance at a National School Sport Conference in Telford.
The conference organised by the Youth Sport Trust took place at the beginning of February at the International Conference Centre in Telford.

Georgia, 16, from Blessed William Howard, is an avid netball player and sports leader but was chosen for her musical talent.

On the evening Georgia was asked to be the headline act and perform four songs from a variety of artists. Each song was sang so beautifully and the audience were enthralled. In between each song, Georgia spoke about her goals in life and related her music to "personal bests" in life. At the conclusion of the set, the 1000 strong crowd were all standing in great applause.

Prior to performing on stage, Georgia was introduced to Olympic Gold Medalist Jason Gardener, Great Britain Hockey International Alex Danson, Former Commonwealth Games Gymnast Steve Frew, Youth Sport Trust Chair Baroness Campbell and the voice of BBC Athletics Paul Dickenson.

Jason Gardner and Georgia StanwaySteve Glover, Partnership Development Manager for the Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership said, "I was thrilled and proud to be part of the evening. It is always a privilege to hear Georgia sing, but the event at Telford was extra special. She delighted all who were present and I am sure the door will now open for many similar events. She has a great career ahead of her and I look forward to her continued performances in the upcoming Olympic months."
