Top Link (Young People Leading Their Own Learning) has been a part of the partnership for the last two years.  Pupils aged 12-15 are led in a number of Leadership Activities by a team of sixth form and college pupils from the Stafford area..  The day consists of fun, exciting and challenging activities.  At the conclusion of the day, all the 13-16 years must leave for their own school with a plan to:

  • Increase Intra School Sport
  • Promote the Olympics
  • Volunteer within school or a community setting.

The conferences were aimed at 12-15 years to inspire leadership qualities. Over the two days over 250 young people descended on Stafford Sports College. The events organised by Partnership Development Manager Stephen Glover, were led superbly by 30 students from sixth forms in Stafford and Stone and also Stafford College. On hand to support the events was Dermot Gascoigne (former professional heavyweight boxer) and Thinus Delport (South African Rugby International).

Pupils were treated to on opening ceremony which included a solo performance by Stafford College student Hannah Gamston, and then a variety of activities throughout the day. These included: Cheerleading, Ultimate Frisbee, Boccia and Multi Skills.top link 4

At the conclusion of the day, pupils were challenged to go back to their individual schools and develop further intra or inter competition opportunities for young people.

"The two days were an overwhelming success.  It was great to see so many inspirational, young sporting leaders. Their enthusiasm and commitment were excellent and demonstrate quite clearly the role that School Sport can play." Stephen Glover, Partnership Development Manager.
